Many batteries have an enormous starting power. Others impress with their large cycle power reserves. The unsurpassed ODYSSEY ® Extreme Series TM batteries offer both.
Even at very low temperatures, the ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries have enough power to deliver peak starting currents of over 2250A for 5 seconds - two to three times as high as conventional batteries of the same size. And they simultaneously offer up to 400 charge and discharge cycles with up to 80% discharge depth.
How is this possible?
The very thin plates of the ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries consist of 99.99% pure lead and not of a lead alloy like conventional batteries. The use of pure lead allows thinner plates, so more can be built into the battery. But more ODYSSEY plates means more plate surface. This in turn provides twice as much power as conventional batteries.
More power for the same size
As many common spiral wound batteries, ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries use AGM fleece technology, where the acid is securely and firmly fixed in the fleece. Therefore, the battery can even be installed lying on its side. However, the flat plate design of the ODYSSEY Extreme Series allows for a much denser packing, eliminating the dead space between the cylinders that would otherwise be required with the typical six-pack concept. This increases the plate surface by 15% - and thus also the performance!
